A slide as part of your commute. An electric van. Frugal bus lanes.
Medellín. Ghent. Lima.
These cities have inspired a passion for city-building. I’ve always wondered how my hometown – Toronto – can benefit from innovations around the world. The opposite is also true as I am keen on bringing homegrown innovations to the rest of the world. Like a bee, I cross-pollinate ideas from one part of the world to the other.
I want to share these innovations with the public. My aspiration is that urban planners can be inspired to adopt them. There can be a reluctance to adopt new ideas. There will be places that decide to go ahead and adopt them. They will gain from these ideas and actions. In the process, I hope that these stories gain traction and can bubble up to policymakers. Just don’t forget about asking me if I am interested to help out if you do, OK?
Ultimately, the Urban Hulk is about sharing lessons from my travels and professional experience in responsible investment research. It is also a tongue-in-cheek way of saying that I’m a towering presence in an urban landscape. Some of the topics I will feature include: natural infrastructure, the importance of good cycling and pedestrian infrastructure, and not forgetting our most vulnerable when planning cities.
So, are you ready to take a slide through my website?
